OVERVIEW

Jordan J. Metzger is a member of the firm’s Real Estate, Real Estate Special Opportunities, Corporate and Restaurant & Hospitality Departments.  Jordan’s practice focuses on structuring, negotiating and closing the acquisition, joint venture, financing, leasing and disposition of the full range of commercial real estate assets, including distressed debt and equity transactions.  Jordan represents purchasers and sellers in commercial real estate debt and equity acquisitions and dispositions; borrowers and institutional and non-institutional lenders in securitized and balance sheet financing transactions (including acquisition, construction, bridge, mezzanine, preferred equity) and workouts; owners and tenants in leasing transactions; equity participants in joint ventures; and developers in ground-up and redevelopment projects involving office, retail, industrial, multifamily, hospitality and mixed-use projects.

Jordan joined the firm in 2012 and has played a prominent role in the representation of a variety of clients, including:

  • A New York developer in the acquisition and joint venture of a New York City office property slated for redevelopment as a hotel and the assumption of the existing securitized mortgage debt
  • New York developer/investor in the joint venture, acquisition and financing of an office property in Dallas, Texas, as part of a discounted pay-off to the existing lender
  • A regional investment fund in the acquisition and financing of a New Jersey retail shopping center through the assumption of three ground leases
  • A New York based European investment fund manager in the lease of its New York headquarters on Fifth Avenue
  • A regional investment fund in the acquisition, joint venture and financing of a New Jersey retail shopping center from a national bank that acquired the property through deed in lieu of foreclosure
  • A regional investment fund in the acquisition and financing of a defaulted loan in foreclosure secured by a New Jersey portfolio of unsold condominium units
  • A New York investor/developer in the acquisition, joint venture and financing of a Denver, Colorado, suburban office property as part of a discounted pay-off to the existing lender
  • A regional investment fund in the acquisition of a grocery anchored retail shopping center in Whitestone, Queens, and the assumption of the existing securitized mortgage debt
  • A New York investment fund in the acquisition of a defaulted senior loan, assignment of membership interests in lieu of foreclosure, loan modification and loan participation in connection with a troubled office condominium project in Fort Lauderdale, Florida
  • A New York developer in the acquisition, joint venture, construction and mezzanine financing of a ground-up multifamily rental and retail project on New York’s Upper West Side
  • A major New York investment fund in construction financing for ground-up development of a mixed-use condominium project in midtown Manhattan
  • A global financial institution in senior and mezzanine financing for a downtown Manhattan redevelopment of office property into a mixed-use condominium project
  • A global investment bank in construction financing of a resort hotel and condominium project located in the British West Indies
  • A New York-based affordable housing REIT in joint venture acquisitions with national operators of multi-family projects throughout the United States
  • A New York developer in acquisition and senior and mezzanine financing of an 11-property portfolio for redevelopment and condominium conversion
  • A New York investor/developer in portfolio acquisition, financing and leaseback of warehouse facilities throughout the United States as part of a reverse Section 1031 exchange
  • A regional investor/developer in joint venture, acquisition and financing of property and development rights for construction of a midtown Manhattan mixed-use/hotel condominium project
  • A regional investor/operator in numerous suburban office joint venture acquisitions and financings

Jordan is a Member of the New York State Bar Association, Real Property Law Section, a Member of the Board of Trustees of The Friends of TEAM Academy Charter School, Inc., a KIPP network of charter schools, and a member of Business Network International. He is a frequent moderator on Bisnow panels as well as an active participant in Cardozo Law School’s real estate programs.

Jordan’s practice has been featured in a number of news publications such as GlobeSt, Real Estate Finance & Investment, Real Estate Weekly, The Real Deal and Builder Magazine.

He earned his B.A. from SUNY Albany and his J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where he served as Associate Editor of the Cardozo Law Review.
