Attorney: Susan M. Usatine
August 14, 2013 — Cole, Schotz, Meisel, Forman & Leonard, P.A. is pleased to announce that litigator Susan Usatine—who spearheads the firm’s strategic planning in the area of litigation technology—has again been recognized by Benchmark Litigation as one of the “Top 250 Women in Litigation in the United States.” Benchmark Litigation
, a definitive guide to America’s leading litigation firms and attorneys, is the only guide to focus exclusively on litigation in the U.S. The publication determines top firms and attorney rankings according to extensive research of recent casework, coverage, opinions and interviews.
As member of the Litigation Department, Ms. Usatine is the founder and co-chair of the firm’s Information Governance and Discovery Services practice groups. Benchmark has recognized her for the second straight year as a litigator with a “rising profile nationwide” who understands the many ways electronically stored information (ESI) can affect the outcome of high-stakes legal disputes.
“Susan’s keen understanding of technology and its effect on litigation strategy and outcome is critical to any legal dispute,” says Steven R. Klein, who co-chairs the Litigation Department. “With virtually all business information now created and stored electronically, her ability to help clients identify and resolve electronic discovery issues makes her a key member of our litigation team.”
Ms. Usatine works with first-time and seasoned litigants and businesses that must quickly and efficiently respond to ESI discovery requests. She also helps clients address potential ESI discovery by streamlining evidence preservation and collection processes and upgrading internal legal hold protocols. When necessary, she appears on their behalf in courts throughout the U.S. to defend ESI protocol, requests and responses.
As trusted counsel to high profile entrepreneurs, private equity, financial and accounting service firms, Ms. Usatine has represented both domestic and international businesses in bet-the-company litigation in federal and state courts, mediation and arbitration proceedings. About Cole Schotz:
